"What story might emerge?"
Story World is a makers' studio where children use materials, objects, images, stories and play to imagine characters, places and possibilities.
Stories evolve through making — as children make, play, notice and change their ideas, new narratives emerge.
The story isn't decided before the making begins.
It grows with the child.

MATERIAL LAB
AGES 6–12 · Tuesdays or Thursdays · 4.15- 6.15pm
"What could this material
become?"
A place to slow down and get to know materials through hands-on experimentation.
Rather than starting with something to make, we start with the material itself.
What happens when we
Bend it? Join it? Stretch it? Stack it?
Cut it? Change it?
Children experiment with techniques and possibilities before using what they discover to respond to a design challenge.

DESIGN STUDIO
AGES 7–12 · Saturdays · 9.30am - 11.30am
"What could you design?"
A focused design experience for children who enjoy questions, challenges and developing their own ideas.
Each experience begins with a design brief — a problem, possibility or idea to investigate.
There is no model to copy.
The project is yours to develop.
Children observe, sketch, experiment and build, developing their own response through making, testing and rethinking.
Some projects take one session. Others unfold over several.

Stories don't always have to begin with a book.
They might begin with a piece of fabric.
An unusual object.
A shape.
A photograph.
A sound.
A character.
Or something a child has just made.
In Story World, children use materials, objects, images, stories and play to imagine characters, places and possibilities.
As they make, they play.
As they play, they notice.
As they notice, their ideas change.
And gradually, stories begin to emerge.

Children pinch, press, roll, join, mark, shape, alter and test — discovering what the material can offer before responding to a small design challenge.

WHAT CAN YOU MAKE A BOX DO?
Ages 7–12 · 2 sessions · Saturday 24 & 31 October 2026 · 9.30am–11.30am
What if an ordinary box could become something completely unexpected?
A secret hideaway?
A tiny world?
A place to enter, meet, or look out?
In this hands-on design experience, children start with just one ordinary cardboard box and discover how cutting, folding, opening and moving can transform the space inside.
They will experiment with ideas, build with their hands, test how their spaces work, and rethink their designs along the way.
SESSION 01
OBSERVE · WONDER · IMAGINE · MAKE
Take a closer look at an ordinary box.
What is already there?
What could change?
Experiment with cutting, folding, opening, closing and moving.
Turn the box into a new kind of space and discover what happens when you change it.
SESSION 02
TEST · RETHINK · REFINE
Who might use your space?
What could they do there?
Build a little life into your design and test how someone might enter, move, hide, meet or look.
Try it out.
Change something that doesn't work.
Rethink your idea and make it better.
TAKE HOME
Your own transformed architectural space — made from one ordinary box.
Through hands-on making, children discover how small changes can create big differences in space, movement and experience.
There is no single answer to the brief.
